Growing out a cropped Cut

Growing out a Cropped Cut

Are you in the awkward no mans land where you want to grow your hair but you can never manage it when it gets that little bit longer with no shape or style.... here's a little gallery of Carrey Mulligan pictures to show you how to grow out that cropped style.

First of all its definitely not a hair myth that you need to get it trimmed regularly to make it grow. Just leave it an extra week or two between appointments so there is room for your hair to grow.

If you are growing out a cropped pixie style try growing the fringe first, this will instantly make your hair feel much longer.

Make sure you are using good products on your hair, the key to hair growth is healthy hair. I've recently had my extensions out and have used Aveda Invati ever since and i swear by it. I'll tell you all about it on a later post.

Using a good shampoo and conditioner will give you a good head start to hair growth.

I find that growing the fringe first helps you achieve something pretty quickly then move on to the next area to concentrate on. Id normally recommend keeping the style fairly textured at this point to hide any awkward areas that may be flicking out.

I love cutting short styles and i'm a firm believer that while growing your in to a certain style make sure you have styles in between. You don't want to have that growing out look for a year. A great way to make a style more interesting is having tendrels. Enhance those wispy areas, flicks are girly and flirty!

To get your hair in to a bob shape you want to then start growing the back and getting a nice rounded shape. The bob is my signature haircut and there is so many ways to create a nice curve. Just ask you stylist what options you have.

Hope this helped you out.

Short Crops

Short Crops

As a hairdresser i will never get bored of cutting short cropped styles. I love the way small changes can be made and the whole style alters. People always think that once you have gone short you are stuck with plain hair that always looks the same....WRONG.

Ask your hairdresser to cut different shapes in to your hair line, this should always be done by someone who knows what they are doing otherwise it could look a complete disaster.

A personal favourite of mine is the fish tail at the back, this means its shorter in the centre of the hair line coming in to longer points at t he sides, this can be made more dramatic in to tendrils at the sides. Ask you hairdresser as unfortunately there are some funny growth patterns out there and how your hair grows will determine how it can be cut.

I love the way short hair can be feminine or very androgynous. Either cut with gentle whispy ends, or harsh blunt lines. Use a mixture of the two to get a completely unique looks.

Hope this post has given you a few ideas. If any one is looking for advice or suggestions please feel free to ask, just post a comment and ill get back to you.

Fringes

Fringes

Over the summer months lots of people tend to grow out their fringe wethers its pushed to the side or completely grown out.

Having a fringe cut in gives an instant change, can lift a drab hairstyle and get you looking glossy again.

An oval face shape can pull any type of fringe off, wether its blunt, soft, straight or curved.

Have you tried the faux fringe ———>
Clips on easily, just need to make sure the join is concealed well.If you have any doubts, buy one then take it to your hairdresser, they will be able to show you the best way to wear it for you!

Personally i find it a bit of a myth that if you have a round face you shouldn't have a full fringe. If your willing to have a statement fringe, really precise and neat i think its look beautiful on a round face.

Don't be afraid of cutting in a fringe to open up your face. Having your fringe right on your eyebrows will really open up the area giving you brighter twinkly eyes.

Try the Peek-a-boo fringe, its cut really long so it can either be worn as a full fringe or slightly parted. Once it gets a little longer it can be fully parted in to sweeping bangs. This is great if your worried about going in for the chop.

Don't be afraid of having a wide fringe to accentuate cheek bones.

I have to admit i'm still a big fan of grown out sweeping bangs, theres something very sexy about them. So if your not feeling the fringe then these sweepy styles will still be around all winter. They are most flattering cut at the cheekbone and cut blunt, once swept you will get the soft curve your looking for.

Ebony Locks

Ebony Locks

I absolutely love the shine you get from these beautifully black shades, from flat raven to the darkest of dark browns. If your feeling brave enough take some inspiration from the beauty icon Rooney Mara. Go for a short fringe, open up your face, its great to see girls not hiding behind hair but using it to frame their best features.

One of the best things about a change in season is that it provokes a change in hair colour. In the summer its lovely to have that sun kissed, grown out colour look. Even a little bit sun frazzled actually looked kinda cool, but once autumn hits its all polished, high shine, high impact colours.

Heres a few of my favourite Ebony tresses....

Mens Hair Autumn/Winter 2013/14

Mens Hair

I have been told that the boys are feeling left out and there isn't much for them on this blog so here you go....

Mens fashion for autumn/winter is really taking off! There are so many styles and scenes which means so many different looks, it all really depends on your personality.

Its nice to see that the usual short back and sides still has its place this year, think effortlessly cool.

This season is a time to shine, let people know what your all about or be Mr Mysterious, its all down to you...... (well your hairdresser/barber)

Heres a few of my favourite looks, i've tried to give a bit of variety because the world would be a boring place if we all looked the same:

The extreme short and tailored look is still very much in fashion, i think this trend will stick around for a long time, so will quiffs! They are fairly easy to pull off but also can be extremely flattering with a good jaw line and defined cheek bones.

Men still wants curls too so if you have them go with it! Personally i'm not in to perming but if you ask your hairdresser/barber what your options are hey will be able to advise you.

So there it is, mens hair trends in a very small nutshell, hope this has been useful for your own looks or ladies share this with the men in your lives.
